Tea originated in China sometime in the 10th century, however, it was introduced in India by the British, only in the early 19th century. The British encouraged tea plantations in Assam and the Himalayan terrain in and around Darjeeling.

With the increased commercial consumption of tea amongst the British and the Anglo-Indian community, our family foresaw the growth of the Tea Industry as early as the beginning of the 20th century and ventured into the business of tea plantations in 1939 in Assam. We now own two tea estates covering an area of over 700 hectares in Assam, manufacturing approx. 2.50 million kgs of tea annually.
